In short, Sabina Mingo is more than a CEO—she is a cultural torchbearer whose dedication, talent, and leadership continue to inspire and unite communities.
I have had the distinct honor of dancing with this troupe since its inception in 2009, when I was just 16 years old. Over the past 17 years, I have seen the transformative power of this organization firsthand. I’ve watched myself, my peers, and the younger generation discover their identities through movement and music. Sabina’s dedication to showcasing the beauty of Dominican culture is unmatched. In a world where traditional arts can easily be lost over time, she has made it her mission to hand down these sacred dances to those of us living abroad. Her leadership ensures that the rhythm, history, and soul of Dominica remain vibrant and accessible to the community here. For me, this isn’t just about performances. It’s personal. I’ve grown up in this troupe. I’ve since watched my niece find her confidence through these dances, and now I have the privilege of seeing my own son take his place in this troupe. There is no feeling quite like seeing your child carry on the same traditions you started learning nearly a lifetime ago. It’s a full-circle moment that wouldn’t be possible without Sabina’s vision.
Yes, I went to your website and shared it with my people. Wow, what an entertaining site!! Honestly it takes dedication and love for culture in order to package something this great. The children are a joy to watch 😀 awesome work. May God bless and reward you abundantly
When Know Our Culture was launched a few years ago, never would I have imagined it to be what is has become today. I was there when it started with only 6 dancers- 3 boys and 3 girls. It has since grown exponentially with about more than 20 dancers including an adult group.
Know Our Culture is like the solid foundation on which our culture stands and blossoms, giving us the opportunity to bask in our rich cultural heritage, no matter how far away we are from home.
Sabina is very passionate about our culture and it shows in her unwavering dedication. She has spent countless hours teaching the kids our cultural dances, making sure that they are well prepared for their performances. With Sabina at the helm, I have no doubt that Know Our Culture will continue to grow and become a force to be reckoned with.
